Little Superman in McCay-land

Here is a comic strip drawn by Windsor McCay, featuring Superman!

No, not really. It's by
Stuart Immonen, in McCay's style (though with much better lettering!).

I first encountered McCay indirectly, through a sketchbook by illustrator, Tom Kidd, at least partly inspired by McCay.

McCay was a cartoonist and animator in the early 20th century. He had a beautiful, crisp line and a crazy imagination. It would be easier to name the comics and animation artists not influenced by him and especially his most famous creation, Little Nemo in Slumberland.

More on McCay and Nemo in due course.
