Subway Art
Part ethnographic survey, part art book, Subway Art, by photographers Martha Cooper and Henry Chalfant, made a huge impression on me and many other kids. A twenty-fifth anniversary edition has just been published.

Inspiration

While looking for articles on the subject of inspiration - there are remarkably few, actually - I came across a truly inspirational website.
Square America presents galleries of 'vintage snapshots and vernacular photography.' The photographs of strangers can be affecting and mysterious. They are so full of hidden meaning.
Particularly moving is a gallery of everyday people, men, women and children, long gone, but brought back to flickering life in animated photobooth strips.
